Mac n cheese is a big deal in my family. Growing up nothing even came close to comparing to my Grandma Mac’s mac n cheese! Now, no I will not be giving you the recipe, but it contains pounds of cheese! Yes, pounds! But it felt a bit too heavy for Thanksgiving. I wanted a mac n cheese that was a bit lighter, but still flavorful. So, when I found what Pinterest said was “revolutionary” I knew I had my mac! The only problem was it didn’t have a crisp baked crust…so I added one!
Mac n Cheese
4 cups pasta
4 cups 2% milk
2 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons dijon mustard
plain bread crumbs
additional cheese for topping
In saucepan combine milk and pasta. Cook pasta in milk, making sure to continually stir so milk doesn’t boil. Once cooked, remove from heat adding cheese, salt, and mustard. (At this point you can stop if you don’t want a crust) Pour mac n cheese into glass casserole dish, topping lightly with cheese and bread crumbs. Bake on 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and melted cheese. Enjoy!
